Today, everyone knows Schladming as a winter paradise. Probably only a few guests of this municipality have wondered why the town hall is housed in a magnificent castle – and why on the second floor of this building a stone crown refers to the Empire of Brazil. Director Alexander Frohner and author Günter Fuhrmann unroll the mystery of Schladming from here and come all the way to Brazil, on the trail of the descendants of the Austrian Archduchess Leopoldina. One of her heirs, August Leopold, later made Schladming his main residence. The Coburg native with Brazilian roots attracted the international high nobility and artists from all over the Austro-Hungarian Empire to the Alpine town.
