Kenya – The country in the east of the African continent is characterized by its enormous natural wealth. Evergreen rainforests, rugged mountain ranges, the pearly white beaches of the Indian Ocean and the largest desert lake in the world transform Kenya into a country of fascinating contrasts. Beyond the well-known savannah and its famous animal inhabitants. In three episodes we travel to the Indian Ocean, to the Kakamega rainforest and to the north of the country, to Lake Turkana and the adjacent Samburu land. In each episode we meet people who are fighting for their country and their nature. Because nature and wildlife are under threat. In Kenya’s first elephant orphanage, which is run by the local Samburu, species protection is being redefined. On the coast, an initiative is looking after the protection of endangered sea turtles. In the country’s last remaining rainforest, the invention of a special oven means that people need less firewood. While modernity has long since taken hold in the metropolises, old traditions are still practiced in many places in the countryside. In the cities we meet creative people from the fashion world and the music industry. In the countryside we learn about the rituals of the respective population groups. In our series we discover the unknown beauty of Kenyan nature, observe fascinating animals and experience unique nature.
