Austrian musician Parov Stelar is considered the inventor of the “electroswing” genre. His incomparable sound and hits including “Booty Swing” and “All Night” have left a mark all around the world and shaped a form of music that continues to attract international attention. Still, there is a lot more to the art and the artist than the pulsating beats he has become known for. Born Marcus Füreder, the man behind the musical success is also a painter and designer. His new project, “Artifact”, is very different from his previous works. The film is a cinematic journey inspired by the great pioneers of the silent movie era and the celebrated masters of the Pop Art movement. The soundtrack blends classical, almost religious soundscapes with Parov Stelar’s typical electronic samples and vocal patterns to create a multi-layered aural world. The documentary presents the creative evolution of the artist from his beginnings to where he is today and provides insights into the origins of his art. Füreder himself, as well as friends, collaborators, and experts, place his work in a wider context and explore his significance to an entire generation.
