After twelve years of service in Vienna, police officer Martin returns to the Waldviertel. Back then, his girlfriend Mona had disappeared without a trace overnight, and he thought he had long since overcome this painful loss. But back in the familiar surroundings of his first true love, everything comes back to him. A few days after taking up his new post, a dead woman is found in a pond. Fanny, 60 years old, is the employee of a mistress of a castle. Surprisingly, it turns out to be a murder. A case for Chief Inspector Paul Werner of the St. Pölten criminal investigation department. It quickly becomes clear that this will not be an easy case. The harmless woman had neither enemies nor fortune. Only a pendant, which is connected to the dead as well as to the missing Mona, puts the inspector on a track.
