Moldova, Europe’s poorest country, sits between Russia and the EU. Its youth face scarce jobs and stark choices: leave or stay, resign or act. This documentary follows three young Moldovans: Ana, who returned to campaign for change; Andrei, from breakaway Transnistria, disillusioned and planning to emigrate; and DJ Wenzel, striving to build a techno scene despite his dying village.

For Israelis, the atrocities are reminiscent of bloody pogroms and the Holocaust. For the Palestinians, the Israeli response, including the war in Gaza that followed October 7, brought back memories of the Nakba. Do these traumas explain the incomprehensible atrocities and the lack of empathy on both sides? Is there any chance of stopping this spiral of violence?

Survivors talk about their grief and how they work to overcome it. Security experts look for explanations and missed opportunities for achieving peace. Political observers try to grasp the incomprehensible. This film tries to paint the big picture, which is often lost in the incessant stream of breaking news.
