In addition to thousands of sailing and motor yachts and a fleet of liners, every year a small number of historical ships take to Lake Constance, some of which are over 100 years old: wooden sailboats that were built to compete in regattas, paddle steamers reminiscent of the beginnings of passenger shipping, but also lavishly renovated motor ships from the heyday of the “White Fleet” on Lake Constance. There are also replicas of ships that used to transport goods in the Middle Ages – because Lake Constance was an important transport route centuries ago.
