Baroque with a passion – Melk Abbey’s Michael Schade

ORF-E
German
1 x 40 minutes

Every year at Pentecost, the International Baroque Days at Melk Abbey have been held in the magnificent premises of the Benedictine monastery on the Danube since 1992 – a meeting place for the up-and-coming European baroque music scene and a fixed date in the concert calendar. From the very beginning, the Baroque Festival team has been keen to combine a musical programme of the highest standard with a love of experimentation and great sensitivity. Tenor and chamber singer Michael Schade has been the artistic director of the Melk Abbey International Baroque Festival since 2014. A lot has happened since then. To mark the 10th anniversary, the documentary delves into the world of the baroque festival in Melk.
