This documentary takes viewers on a journey into the past and explores the lives of people who resisted the rule of the Nazis as a result of their religious beliefs. Among them are the Evangelical theologist Margarete Hoffer, the Catholic priest Heinrich Maier and Ernst Reiter, a Jehova’s Witness. To mark the anniversary of the liberation of Mauthausen concentration camp, this film examines the role that faith played in the decision of some to stand up to the terrors of the National Socialist regime. Interviews with experts and contemporary witnesses contribute to creating powerful profiles in courage of people who risked everything in the service of humanity and a higher power.
