Beginning in the Lechtal Alps, this production shows how fall descends on the landscape. Peace has returned over the peaks and treetops, the high mountain lakes reflect the surrounding sugar-coated summits like brightly polished mirrors. At this time of year, nature gains contrasts and contours – the fragrant forests shine in reds, yellows and nuances of green. In the Tyrolean Oberland, the potatoes are now being harvested in the traditional way. There’s also a bustling activity in the rest of the animal kingdom. Squirrels gather their winter supplies, and the black grouse, which is threatened with extinction, enjoy picking rowan berries from the trees to secure energy and nutrients for the cold season. In this new documentary, producer Hans Jöchler captures numerous moments of alpine nature and culture in the tranquil fall.
