This documentary invites you on a journey that reveals countless treasures of nature and mountain romance between the Silvretta mountain range and the picturesque Montafon. The turquoise lake Zeinissee in Montafon, located at 1800 meters, rests in the midst of untouched nature, which rewards with the view of lush green meadows and gray mountain peaks. In the Vermunt Valley, located in the high mountains of the Silvretta, fly fishermen and herds of horses can be observed, visibly enjoying meandering waters and small lakes. Not far from the idyllic high moor lakes lies the highest point in Vorarlberg – the Piz Buin. It was only eighty years ago that Vorarlberg’s first summit cross was erected on the 3312-meter-high mountain. Once back in the valley, ancient Montafon settlements can be marveled at. Montafon is not only known for its picture-perfect wooden houses, but also for its “Montafon Brentana”. In these wooden bowls spaetzle are served in the traditional way. How the “Brentana” are made is demonstrated by one of the last masters of the “Weißküferei”, Jürgen Tschofen, who keeps the time-tested old craft alive in his workshop. The crowning finale is a visit to the Heilbronner Hut, situated at over two thousand meters. Through this new production, documentary filmmaker Hans Jöchler provides numerous spectacular insights into the enchanting mountain nature, rustic crafts and the tranquil little villages of the area between the Silvretta and Montafon.
