A year at the renowned Austrian Ski Academy in the fictitious St. Geis, a school of international repute with graduates who regularly dominate professional skiing. But the road to the top is slippery – even off the slopes. Of the many international applicants, only ten teenagers are accepted at the school after a grueling admissions process: This year, along with five other young talents, Nikki, the sporty but undisciplined son of the school’s principal, Nawal, the focused racer from Switzerland, Luca, a young introvert from South Tyrol, Daniela, the local racing hopeful, and George, the quiet Munich native, make it. But this is just the beginning of their long journey. In their everyday school life, they not only face tough training, but also interpersonal challenges. Love and envy, loyalty and betrayal, ambition, and disappointment, success and failure are all closely tied together at the ski boarding school. A jungle of emotions between adrenaline rush on the slopes, ambitious parents, demanding teachers, financial pressure, public interest – and the deep longing for victory, love, and recognition.

School of Champions tells the story of a freshman class at Austria’s most renowned and prestigious ski-academy. The graduates of this highly reputable institution regularly dominate the professional skiing world, but at this boarding school of pubescent athletes there is only a thin line between love and jealousy, loyalty and betrayal, ambition and frustration. Newfound friendships, across all borders are instantly put to the test in the next hard-fought race. Romantic relationships start to emerge but often enough start to go downhill fast under the constant pressure of winning. In day-to-day school life with all its emotional twists and turns, the students find themselves caught between self-discovery and self-optimization with the additional adrenalin of going down the slopes with hazardous 100 miles per hour. However, not only the students have to face various challenges every day. The school’s headmaster, the teachers and trainers constantly have to fight against bad publicity, cash flow problems and political interference.

In their second year, the students must face a new challenging discipline: Downhill skiing. More than 100 Km/h, over 3 Gs of pressure and no time to overthink. There are also new challenges beside the slopes: Nikki falls in love with Dani’s little sister Steffi, Georg discovers he likes boys and starts a secret affair. Dani develops feelings for Luca, who turns to theft to cope with financial problems. Meanwhile, Coach Veighofer gains more and more power and influence. Together with his favorite pupil Bobby, the best downhill skier from an upper grade, he increases the pressure on the class. His success proves him right, but his toxic training methods and manipulative behavior turn the students against each other. After a dramatic snowstorm, the situation escalates …

In this season, Dani, Nikki, Nawal, Georg, and their friends face their last year of school. The mysterious death of a young female skier threatens to disrupt their education, as do rumors of a new doping drug, the plotting of a public relations strategist, and some of the athletes’ personal crises. Everybody is forced to face up to who they want to be – in terms of fame, the risks they are prepared to take, and their true identity.
