Inspector Sifkovits is visiting his mother in the run-up to Easter when he receives a tragic piece of news: Fredi Horvatits has been murdered – with a knife belonging to Sifkovits’ own mother! In order to prove her innocence, Sifkovits has to dive deep into the secrets of the village and its Easter traditions, which involve intricately patterned eggs. In fact, it is these eggs that may hold the clue that allows Sifkovits to solve the heinous crime. Once again, the policeman is assisted on his dangerous quest by the village’s “headscarf mafia”, three old ladies who always know all the ins and outs of local life. However, as Sifkovits comes closer to solving the crime, the danger for himself and his mother grows. “The Easter Egg Plot” is the third film based on Thomas Stipsits’ bestselling “Headscarf Mafia” series of novels – and perhaps the trickiest the “Inspector Columbo from Burgenland” has faced to date.
