Peace, joy—and Grandma’s eggnog! Nurse Nora is looking forward to her first Christmas vacation in years. Unfortunately, she has to do without her married lover Eric, who has to pass on the holiday due to hospital duties and fatherly responsibilities. She wouldn’t miss her brother Moritz on Christmas Eve with her mother Ellen and grandmother Lore. But Moritz shows up unannounced and, as usual, draws all the attention to himself. He’s not the only one who makes sure things are anything but peaceful: the neighbors’ heating breaks down – and Ellen takes Rolf and his family in for the holidays. No one knows that she and Rolf, both widowed, are secretly a couple. Nora now has to deal with Rolf’s son Bent, whom she has resented since her youth. And Rolf’s daughter Katja, whose marriage is on the rocks and who is seeking refuge with her son Fritz, also brings a bundle of grief with her.
