A trained body, an adequate income, and dominance in a relationship – according to a survey from 2023 these are parts of the image of masculinity for young men in Germany. The idea of traditional role models in which women are not equal partners clearly still prevails. A disappointing finding that once again shows how far away we are from equal rights for women and men in society, even though in Western countries equality before the law has generally been achieved, at least on paper.
